The Social Development Foundation (SDF), established in 2000 as a not-for-profit autonomous organization under the Financial Institutions Division (FID) of the Ministry of Finance, operates under the guidance of its Board of Directors and General Body. SDF is dedicated to the socio-economic development of rural poor communities, focusing on transforming their livelihoods in alignment with sustainable development goals. Board Of Directors

The Board of Directors (BoD) plays a key role in making strategic decisions to ensure that SDF's operations align with its vision, mission, and goals. The BoD is responsible for implementing the policies developed by the GnB and ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the organization. It oversees financial management, ensuring internal controls are in place, and that all financial operations comply with applicable rules, regulations, and procedures. The BoD also ensures operational efficiency and maintains high standards of service delivery to the communities SDF serves. With a strong focus on upholding integrity, the BoD ensures compliance with all rules and regulations, working to maintain SDF's accountability and transparency in all aspects of its operations.

General Body

The General Body (GnB) plays a crucial role in shaping and strategizing Social Development Foundation’s (SDF) vision, mission, and long-term goals. It is responsible for establishing the governance system as outlined in the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association. The GnB responds to existing issues, needs, and demands by formulating or adopting policies and changes necessary for the smooth functioning of SDF. It ensures that the organization’s operations align with the established governance framework while striving to achieve sustainability and overall growth, in line with the vision of transforming Bangladesh into a developed nation. PROJECTS

The Social Development Foundation (SDF) drives transformative projects that uplift rural communities across Bangladesh. PROGRAMS

In response to COVID-19’s economic impact, the Social Development Foundation (SDF) launched the Credit Program Under the Stimulus Package (CPSP) to support rural businesses, especially small and medium enterprises. Through targeted financial assistance, SDF empowers local entrepreneurs, creating job opportunities, and enhancing livelihoods in vulnerable communities. This program fosters economic resilience and sustainable growth by bolstering village-level industries and reducing poverty.

INTERVENTIONS

The Social Development Foundation (SDF) drives impactful interventions across key areas, including capacity building, livelihood enhancement, and skill development for employment generation. Our programs also focus on small-scale infrastructure, health and nutrition support, and climate resilience, ensuring sustainable growth and community well-being. We prioritize biodiversity conservation and special interventions, such as supporting small ethnic minority groups and offering scholarships to uplift marginalized communities.

INNOVATION

The Cabinet Division of the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh has formulated an ‘Innovation Strategic Plan and Evaluation Guideline 2015’ to promote innovative practices in Public Services. In line with this, SDF has formed a 5-member innovation team under the leadership of a General Manager. So far, SDF has piloted 6 innovative ideas: 1. Agent Banking, 2. e- krishi, 3. Cafeteria, 4. IT Freelancer, and 5. Loan Management System, 6. Telemedicine service for rural beneficiaries of the RELI project
